I found this badge somewhere while traveling, and it translates as: “Camera-monitored! Suspension of civil rights.” As you probably notice, the people responsible have at least been honest about both measure and effect, and likewise, the people around there have at least expressed their disregard with trying to get the label off the wall.
Even though the displayed label was probably not stuck by a state authority, it is to be seen with “great scepticism” what governments around the Globe do with civic rights. And still, camera observation doesn’t help in preventing crime. You can read more over at Bruce Schneier or Scott Henson, among others.
