Change

In case you wondered about the recent drop in post frequency, here’s some information about what’s currently going on in my life—there’s a lot of change. And while it will be interesting to see how that affects the next steps I did or did not mention a few weeks ago, here are some rough details:

• I quit at Aperto, I’ll leave the company by next month. Such a withdrawal is usually related to a new engagement, and I’ll either promote a new company (together with some investors) or go into business for myself (focusing on own projects and products as well as existing clients). Both options are still to be evaluated, and they are not necessarily “mutually exclusive.”

• I’ll leave Berlin in August, and move to Bremen. This is relocation number 21 (and my 9th since I left parental home, by the way), so it’s no big deal anyway, anymore.

  There have always been good reasons for these changes, sure, be it my father’s job (professional soldier, retired) in past days, or company insolvencies, broken relationships, or other things in recent years. Now I’m moving to end the long-distance relationship with my girlfriend (Berlin and Munich, currently Berlin and Bremen), in order to give it a try. Or in order to bring things to the next level, respectively. (However, you may expect me/us to move again in 2008/2009 …)

• Caused by above changes there may be some impact on my work in general: this blog will probably be “revised,” I can imagine to generally lower post frequency in order to focus on less “profane,” (even ) more valuable entries. A small redesign is intended, too. I need to check the potential of and process concerning my other sites (like UITest.com). I also need to specify a clear course of action concerning the HTML Working Group and other groups and organizations I’m a member of. The second edition of my book will be released in August. And so on.
