Choke Web Development Framework 1.0

Post from November 13, 2007 (↻ August 11, 2014), reflecting Jens the .

After years of thorough research I may finally present the “Choke Web Development Framework 1.0,” Choke or CWDF in short. Choke is an easy-to-use, easy-to-maintain, and future-proof platform for web design and development, and it includes everything you need to build great websites, from HTML to CSS to DOM scripting to comprehensive documentation.

Choke allows both beginners and experts to go to work quickly. It’s valid, sure.

Choke 1.0 Package Contents

Download and License

Download Choke 1.0 (ZIP, 189,210,670 KB).

Choke is licensed under a MITRE Collaborative Virtual Workspace License.

Bonus

After uploading Choke to your website Choke automagically fills your site with content by spidering and mirroring the Alexa Top 500. Choke’s built-in “Anti Duplicate Content System” (ADCS) will not only protect you from penalties from search engines but also cloak your pages so that no one can ever prove you copied anything.

So what are you waiting for? Download Choke 1.0 (ZIP, 189,210,670 KB).

    Great Work!
i used it allready to put a small website together - took like 1 hour and it was very easy to use. you created something like “web 2.0 webpages for dummys 1.0″.

    keep up the fantastic work!

Thanks for the kind words. I’ll try to extend Choke as soon as possible so that it covers Ruby on Rails and mod_rewrite too!

As for the download link, right, there have been some problems but these should have been fixed by now :)

The download still doesn’t work for me. Safari and Firefox on Mac.
I’ll gladly host a demo as soon as I can. I can also offer my server is a mirror if that’s the issue.

download link doesn’t work at all

  11. On November 14, 2007, 10:22 CET, Robert said:

I’ve managed to locate a mirror which contains most of the package.

Thsi is really bleeding edge, and even available way too early. Judging from the rumours, I expected a final release at the end of March, or even during the very first days of April, 2008.

    Enjoy!

Download still not working. Looking forward to check it out. On a different note. What happened to the Font on this site? It’s terrible to read on Browsers from the Windows platform at least.

  13. On November 14, 2007, 10:51 CET, Jens Oliver Meiert said:

Robert, thank you, that’s great! :) I finally fixed the download; expect a torrent link soon, too.

Jens, what do you mean with the font problem? Would you mind sending me a screenshot? (Currently I suspect that you’ve got Palatino installed on your system which might look a little bit different on Windows?)

I think I found the bug of the month. You misspelled the word “choke”. There has to be a “j” in place of “ch” :-)

I like the way it “includes everything”, especially all stylesheets on each and every page ;-)

Hi Jens, your download link provided me with a readme.txt file, only. That was it. Too bad.

Basically, I agree with you, but if is my understanding that if you wish to include support for print, speech and - maybe portable devices, you need several style sheets, not to mention the IE.variations.

It would be nice to have just one style sheet sorted into different sections for different media, but that is not yet the case.

    Regards, Susanne

That is just too friggin’ funny! I am glad someone has the sense to make us laugh about our love (read: obsession) for frameworks. You had me laughing with the name and then rolling in tears with all the CSS! Jens, you rock! :-)

After weeks of stuffing around with YUI and Blueprint CSS I had almost resolved myself to the fact that there was no such thing as a complete framework for rapid and accessible web development.

    Seems I was right. :)

    You cheeky, cheeky bugger.

i think some one hacked your server … the downloaded file contains nothing more but this text:

Nobody ever wants to maintain a website with 2,500 style sheets.

Some people don’t even want to maintain 2.

You rarely need more than 1.

    Less is more.

    Apologies for this little “hoax”.

… sorry would have liked to try your framework..!

A good effort, but unfortunately the generated pages are unreadable in Arachne 1.70R3 under MSDOS 4.1. Was this an oversight or have you dropped support for this particular configuration?

I have already lost 2 minutes reading and responding to the email from the visitor who was disenfranchised. The site in question receives over 2,000 hits per day, which means there are not enough minutes in the day to be devoting this kind of time to such bugs. (Yes, I consider this a bug.)

I realize you have provided this project free of charge, but you have claimed that the software is “future-proof” and “includes everything,” which is clearly not the case. I demand a bug fix within the next 24 hours or I will have to seek renumeration for the business interruption that you have caused. Eccentric people use eccentric browsers, and such folks are often wealthy. You may have cost me a billion-dollar sale.

Love the reset-reset.css! That file alone makes the download worthwhile.

Ignore all the people complaining about the download link, either their PC is too old, or their ZIP software is buggy.

The download is working perfect for me!
