Akismet Plugins Archive

Since no older versions of famous WordPress spam protection plugin Akismet seem to be available (anymore?) even though this can be useful yet necessary, I decided to offer several former Akismet variants for download (your API key may get all excited):
- Akismet 1.14 (ZIP, 4 KB)
- Akismet 1.15 (ZIP, 8 KB)
- Akismet 1.2.1 (ZIP, 9 KB)
- Akismet 2.0 (ZIP, 10 KB)
- Akismet 2.0.2 (ZIP, 11 KB)
- Akismet 2.1.3 (ZIP, 11 KB)
- Akismet 2.1.4 (ZIP, 12 KB)
- Akismet 2.1.6 (ZIP, 12 KB)
- Akismet 2.2.1 (ZIP, 13 KB)
- Akismet 2.2.6 (ZIP, 15 KB)
- Akismet 2.2.9 (ZIP, 16 KB)
While I intend to maintain and extend this collection unless Matt puts in a veto, all files are provided without guarantee again. They look fine though, and versions 1.14 and 1.2.1 have actually been in use on this site.
The reason to post this sort of archive was that I still use an older version of WordPress, and current Akismet just doesn’t work with it. Search for former Akismet releases was a little bit frustrating, but interestingly, quite some people did not just leave their plugin folders unprotected but yet their original plugin archives in it (check some Google results). This investigation resulted in the files listed above – and a newer Akismet version that worked for my site.

Thank you for this! I’m using the older 2.0 fork of WP as well right now, but the Akismet site still lists their latest plugin as being compatible with 2.0 and up. I had to find out the hard way that this was hardly the case. I just wanted to use the latest stable plugin that will still work with this fork for now, so thanks again for keeping an archive of it!

Great! Today they released Akismet 2.1.7 which doesn’t work correctly. Thanks to this site I was able to downgrade until they have fixed it.
