Google Friend Connect: +10 % Visits, +20 % Pageviews?

Two weeks ago I added Google Friend Connect to three of my sites (and shared some tips). Now I got curious and checked my Analytics accounts for any impact integration of Friend Connect could have had. It might have had, as merging the numbers of all three sites means the following:
- +10.21 % visits,
- +19.10 % pageviews (still within a 6-digit range),
- +7.04 % pages per visit,
- +.24 % bounce rate,
- +2.52 % average time on site,
- +.18 % new visits.
Despite me playing a very dangerous game here and bending a few Web Analytics rules, I found the changes – or non-changes, when it comes to bounce rate and new visits – interesting enough to share. Use these numbers with a good pinch of salt and at your own risk, while I’ll keep you posted on this one too. I clearly have to rule out one, two potential issues and like to observe the development a bit longer.
In the meantime, why don’t you share your findings too, and utilize my “join every site I can find” spree at the same time? (And don’t miss recent meiert.com survey either if you didn’t participate already.)

Were there any specific pages (such as your CSS property table) that received a significant increase in traffic lately? It could be that you received more traffic due to another factor.

Nice observation, Neal. The CSS index did indeed attract more visitors lately, however not that many more. Also, it meant a significantly increased amount of new visits which isn’t the case when comparing with the joint data of all three GFC sites.
