What’s Going on in the Life of … Jens Meiert?

As most of you probably noticed, there isn’t much happening on this site at the moment. The good news is – there are some useful articles to be released very soon. Let me give you a quick recap and outlook though so that I can buy some more time. Out of the back of my head:
- I’ve been to Madrid end of April, to work from our Madrid office and also attend the W4A conference, a complement to the WWW2009.
- I’ve been to Budapest May 9-11.
- I gave an internal talk on web development and maintainability, May 13, which required way more preparation than the team-internal talks I give every once in a while.
- I moved homes May 16/17, within Zurich, reflecting some “personal changes.”
- I’ll head Berlin May 26/27 to speak at the webinale 09 – about web development and maintainability too.
- I’ll go Bay Area June 1 to July 12 to work from our headquarters and take some time off. These six weeks can mean some radio silence too, but that’s yet to be seen.
There’s also regular work, plus site maintenance, plus work on a German book on typography as well as my own next book, planned to be released in English. And I didn’t give up having some free time too.
So now the outlook. That’s the minimum you can expect from me during the next two or three weeks:
- German readers may look forward to another “pro bono” W3C translation featuring a solid introduction to some internationalization aspects.
- English readers, in turn, will get a special post on a very particular CSS maintenance issue, that is going to presented at the webinale 09 first.
- German as well as English readers will then enjoy some kind of “maintainability guide” – working title – that features maintenance principles as well as some tips, based on the research and presentations of the former weeks.
- There’s going to be a quick announcement regarding an article I wrote for an upcoming … publication. The publication will be released in German, the announcement in English; why not.
- There’ll be more, assuming the schedule outlined above doesn’t interfere with my intentions any longer.
It’s been intense, crazy weeks recently. I’m not complaining, just saying. I think it’s cool to keep you posted, even though that doesn’t have to mean that I should run around solely in underwear.
