The Most Boring Person in the World

Tim Moss of The Next Challenge had me speak a little about the mindset of trying everything, in The Most Boring Person in the World:
When I moved from Switzerland to the United States it was like I switched… frequencies or something. All of a sudden I began to pick up on things that I could do in this still-not-exactly-infinite free time of mine. And I began to give in to these hunches. Skydiving. Motorcycles. Horseback riding. Security guard training. Filmmaking, pretending.
In the guest post, I talk about how I changed my thinking so to become a lot more adventurous. I hope you enjoy—and thanks for having me, Tim!
About Me
I’m Jens (long: Jens Oliver Meiert), and I’m a senior engineering lead, guerrilla philosopher, and indie publisher. I’ve worked as a technical lead and engineering manager for companies you use every day and companies you’ve never heard of, I’m an occasional contributor to web standards (like HTML, CSS, WCAG), and I write and review books for O’Reilly and Frontend Dogma.
I love trying things, not only in web development and engineering management, but also in philosophy. Here on meiert.com I share some of my experiences and perspectives. (I value you being critical, interpreting charitably, and giving feedback.)
