Israel and the USA Really Declared War on Everyone

Israel and the United States of America have started yet another war.

They did so in the middle of now clearly bad-faith negotiations, in a surprise attack to obtain a tactical advantage.

Without legal justification, Israel and the United States have attacked multiple countries this and last year alone: Occupied Palestine, Lebanon, Yemen, Syria, Iran, Qatar, Venezuela, and others, depending on how you’re counting.

Indiscriminate, Unaccounted Violence Is Barbarism

They do so with impunity—no one, except for apparently Yemen, has actually been holding Israel and the United States accountable.

Israel furthermore keeps oppressing and committing genocide against Palestinians and keeps expanding their colonization of Palestine, without direct repercussions, like sanctions, an international military mission to protect Palestinians and to clear illegally occupied Palestinian, Lebanese, and Syrian territories, and to demilitarize the country, starting with Israeli nuclear weapons.

Personally, a German who has learned from the Holocaust, I have my views on all of this. What Israel and the United States are doing is egotistic and imperialistic, reckless and barbaric, a regression and a disgrace (as are most of the European responses).

As for anyone who believes this was “okay,” perhaps because it wouldn’t seem to affect them, I believe their moral compass is broken and they’re being naive:

Countries which deem themselves above the law, which act with brutality and yet also with impunity, are a danger for everyone.

Out of Control Is Also Out of Our Control

It would be foolish to think that Israel or the United States would not attack your or my country.

Israel is in a collective blood frenzy, and although they predominantly kill unarmed civilians (genocide), their doctrine has shown to generally and exclusively be “kill.”

The United States is led by a convicted criminal, operating without effective checks and balances, which is why all threats, including against allies, are to be taken seriously.

With Israel and the United States never openly declaring war on anyone—just attacking out of nowhere, disregarding international law in general and cease-fires specifically—, they’ve actually declared war on everyone.

We will not be safer by kissing up to them or by looking the other way and doing nothing. Most importantly, it doesn’t help the people they’re attacking and killing—most of whom are civilians, people like you and me.

About Me

I’m Jens (long: Jens Oliver Meiert), and I’m an engineering lead, guerrilla philosopher, and indie publisher. I’ve worked as a technical lead and engineering manager for companies you use every day (like Google) and companies you’ve never heard of, I’m an occasional contributor to web standards (like HTML, CSS, WCAG), and I write and review books for O’Reilly and Frontend Dogma.

I love trying things, not only in web development and engineering management, but also in philosophy. Here on meiert.com I share some of my experiences and perspectives. (I value you being critical, interpreting charitably, and giving feedback.)
