For years, I’ve been wanting to write a utopian novel. I’ve just completed an AI-assisted, experimental one: Tara.
Before I introduce the book: If you believe there’s little or no value in using generative AI, then this book is probably not of interest to you. If you’re skeptical, consider reading the foreword (PDF).

In the Book’s Own Words
Tara tells the story of a woman who refuses to live in a dystopia and, with the help of friends and like-minded peers, sets off to transform the world.
This human-inspired, AI-generated, human-edited book is an experimental challenge to the suggestion that we cannot think of and strive for a world where we do not destroy our environment and each other.
About Me
I’m Jens (long: Jens Oliver Meiert), and I’m an engineering lead, guerrilla philosopher, and indie publisher. I’ve worked as a technical lead and engineering manager for companies you use every day (like Google) and companies you’ve never heard of, I’m an occasional contributor to web standards (like HTML, CSS, WCAG), and I write and review books for O’Reilly and Frontend Dogma.
I love trying things, not only in web development and engineering management, but also with respect to politics and philosophy. Here on meiert.com I talk about some of my experiences and perspectives. (Please share feedback: Interpret charitably, but do be critical.)
