Akismet Plugins Archive

Published on February 27, 2008 (↻ October 31, 2023), filed under (RSS feed for all categories).

Since no older versions of famous WordPress spam protection plugin Akismet seem to be available anymore, I decided to preserve the collection of Akismet plugins I could get my hands on. Get your API key all excited.

While I plan to maintain this archive unless Matt puts in a veto until 2023, all files are provided without guarantee or liability, either. They look fine though. Versions 1.14 and 1.2.1 have been in use on this site. [Ages ago!]

The reason to post this collection was that I still use an older version of WordPress, and current Akismet doesn’t work with it. Searching for former Akismet releases turned out to be a little frustrating. Interestingly, a few people did not only leave their plugin folders unprotected but even their original plugin archives (have a look at the respective Google results). This investigation resulted in the files listed above—and a slightly newer Akismet version that worked for my site.

Thank you for this! I’m using the older 2.0 fork of WP as well right now, but the Akismet site still lists their latest plugin as being compatible with 2.0 and up. I had to find out the hard way that this was hardly the case. I just wanted to use the latest stable plugin that will still work with this fork for now, so thanks again for keeping an archive of it!

Great! Today they released Akismet 2.1.7 which doesn’t work correctly. Thanks to this site I was able to downgrade until they have fixed it. đŸ˜‰
